Christmas Newsletter 2009:

Krystle worked very hard to make our 2009 scrapbook. CLICK HERE TO SEE OUR 2009 SCRAPBOOK

Dear friends and family,

Well, we really thought this would be the year. We thought this would be the year that we would finally use real stamps and paper to send out our Christmas newsletter. However, due to an unfortunate incident with a Nigerian Prince, our stamp and paper fund is no longer available. So once again, we are utilizing the world wide web to bring you our annual long-winded Christmas e-letter. As usual, feel free to browse around as we have posted some new content and pictures of our 2009 year.

In 2009, we really started to feel at home in San Diego. Krystle and I continue to enjoy exploring all of the unique areas, parks, beaches, and restaurants that San Diego has to offer. We have also lived in our condo for a year and a half, which is the longest Krystle has lived in a single location for almost 6 years. What was probably our favorite part of 2009 was the opportunity to strengthen a lot of our friendships, including many we have formed since moving to San Diego. Between the parties, get-togethers, road-trips, and date-nights, we feel like we’ve made a lot of new memories that we can carry into 2010.

2009 was filled with a lot of hard work and a lot of fun. The hard work was caused by the usual suspects: school and jobs. I only had to worry about keeping up with my job at DivX Inc. Krystle, however, had to worry about juggling school, student teaching and her job at Starbucks. Her hard work is paying off, however, as she is now done with school, and she will be done with her student teaching at the end of January. At that point she can focus on substitute teaching and finding a full time teaching job for the next school year.

As far as “fun” goes, we kicked off 2009 by camping out and watching the Rose Parade in Pasadina. As the year progressed we also did a road trip to Vegas, a weekend getaway to Nashville, a few trips to Disneyland, Comic-Con, and a trip to Denver. For our anniversary, we made the decision to to spend a few days in Seattle. Our trip was amazing. It was bright and sunny the whole time (seriously what is all this “rain” everyone kept telling us about). We absolutely loved exploring the area and we hope to go back very soon. You can check out some of our photos here. Another major event was my sister’s wedding in June. The entire wedding was awesome. You can see a few of her photos here.

If you are one of those people who keep asking for an update about our cats, then here it goes: They both still have fur, they both still have 4 paws, and their favorite past times have not changed much since 2008. Hero has taken to spending most of his time on my desk chair instead of the couch, and Pixel has developed an addiction to catnip (you can read about the inevitable intervention in our 2010 newsletter).

This letter has gotten so long, that I’m sure only my mother has read this far (hi mom), but I figured I’d include just a few more random updates about the past year. I went in to a music studio to record drums for a new album that was written by my friend Kevin. There is no music to show any of you yet, but I will post about it here and at www.slightlyoffbeat.com when it becomes available. As far as my work at DivX goes, I would love to share about all the cool and new stuff that will be coming in 2010, but in the interset of keeping my job, I’ll just have to let everyone find out the old fashion way: by keeping an eye on www.divx.com and www.twitter.com/divx (shameless plug).

Those of you who we don’t have the fortune of seeing on a regular basis, we really miss hanging out with you (well, most of you). We hope we can make more time in 2010 to visit Nor Cal and catch up. As always, our spare room is open to friends and family who would like to visit us in San Diego. If this exhaustively-long letter wasn’t enough, you can find some of our photos here. I post occasional updates to my website as well as my twitter account. Krystle also posts updates to her twitter account.

Happy Holidays Merry Christmas from the Browns.

Dan & Krystle

P.S. Sign our guestbook and leave us some Christmas love :)
